Cockle Bay Cross Country 2020

On Tuesday 30th June, Cockle Bay students all participated in the CBS Cross Country at Howick College.

Over the past three weeks, we had been training by running round the CBS field at Fitness time:

First, the Year 3 girls, and then the Year 3 boys had to run the entire 1.4km course without stopping in very wet, muddy conditions.

At first the girls seemed apprehensive . . .
. . . but with some encouragement, they were soon rearing to go!

As the Year 3 girls were the first group to race, Howick College students led the way around the course.

Howick College students ran with us the whole way and encouraged us when we tired.

Everyone was pleased to see the finish line come into view, with its gallery of proud parents and grandparents.

We were all very proud of our achievements at the end of the course.

Back at school, we took turns to wash our feet and legs in our lovely warm spa.

. . . this is why!

The Best Pizzas in Town

Along with multiplication tables, we have been learning about fractions of shapes and fractions of set of numbers.

To practice our skills in identifying and making fractions of shapes, we made pizza!  First we had to find a pizza chef to buddy up with; decide on a name for our pizzaria; select a recipe; colour in the crust with wax crayons; smear on a tomato base using dye and finally add the toppings.

We had to buy all the ingredients at the Room 18 Supermarket.  Everything cost $10 a sheet, which meant that we had to practice our 10x table to check how much money we had to spend.

There were some very busy pizza chefs at Cockle Bay!

You can see our finished pizzas here.  We did a final check to make sure that we had the right ingredients in each segment.

Here are some of the pizzas - you can see them all on the MATHS PAGE:
