Peter Rabbits looking more rabbit-y!

The white undercoat was dry, and the wayward ears re-attached.  It was time to paint our rabbits and make their little jackets.  We used the pictures in Beatrix Potter's book, Peter Rabbit, to help us mix the right shade of brown for the rabbit fur.

When the paint was dry, Mrs Bear painted the rabbits with PVA varnish to make the fur glossy and intact. Next we cut out a paper pattern for a little jacket and chose a button from Mrs Bear's button box.

We also made lavender tobacco just like old Mr Benjamin Bunny in the story.  The lavender made our fingers smell strongly of flowers in the garden on a still sunny day.  It was interesting to look at the olden days pipe Mrs Bear brought to school to see where people used to put the tobacco.  We also found out how pipe cleaners got their name - they really can be used to clean pipes!
