Highlights from Thursday's Learning

At our Google Hangout on Friday, we talked about our school work so far, and what we were most proud of, what we thought was our best work.

Oliver, Otis, Dimitri and Wilson were most proud of their work on Maths Whizz.  Oliver has come up six levels and Otis worked on his times problems for 20 minutes on Thursday.

Chen, Emma and Adam were most proud of the work they did on 2D and 3D shapes.  Emma liked putting the 2D shapes together and making new ones.  Some people used blocks, some people used straws, Mia even used chopsticks and LJ made a circle out of toy cars!  Adam worked hard finding objects at home that were 3D, he even found an ovoid (egg) shape.

Nathaniel, Sam, Eillie, Liam and Isabelle were most proud of their reading forts they built.  Everyone did lots of reading in them. Sam even slept in his all night with his brother, Emma with her brother and sister, and Isabelle was going to sleep in hers on Thursday night.  Some people took their pets into their reading forts instead; Charlotte had her cat, Pepper and Eillie had her rabbit, Marshmallow.  People used all sorts of things to make their forts.  Eillie used a slide, while other people used bean bags, mattresses, tables, chairs, poles, laundry baskets, blankets, pillows and sheets.  But whatever they used, to make their forts, everyone read in them.  Lucas read books about tigers and Kadin about dinosaurs, some people picture books and others, chapter books.  Some people had help from their Dads, so it was nice to see one of the CBS 4Cs playing out at home . . . Cooperation.

Here are some of our reading forts:

Linsey, Kadence, Abbey, Wallace, Kadin, LJ and Milan were most proud of their paper planes.  Kadance, Abbey and Kadin also decorated theirs.  Kadin and Linsey didn't know how to make paper planes and now they do, which was really good learning.  It is always cool to learn something new.  LJ made four different types of paper planes, all of which flew in different directions for different distances.  He experimented with the design by cutting and folding the wings which is also good learning.  Milan worked with his Dad, he flew his paper plan from upstairs to his Dad downstairs, while Isabelle did her flight tests with her brother.

There were lots to choose from, but here are a few of the paper planes people made:

Isabelle's brother helped her with her test flight.
