EASTER HOLIDAY CHALLENGE #2 - MEASURING SUNFLOWERS

Mrs Bear finally got organised and measured the height of the eleven sunflowers in our holiday challenge.  How close was your estimate?

Here are the measurements:

units of measure - centimetres (cm) and metres (m)

Sunflower 1 - 180 cm or about 1 3/4 m

Sunflower 2 - 199 cm or about 2 m

Sunflower 3 - 174 cm or about 1 3/4 m

Sunflower 4 - 229 cm or about 2 1/4 m

Sunflower 5 - 194 cm or about 2 m

Sunflower 6 - 160 cm or about 1 1/2 m

Sunflower 7 - 165 cm or about 1 1/2 m

Sunflower 8 - 147 cm or about 1 1/2 m

Sunflower 9 - 197 cm or about 2 m

Sunflower 10 - 143 cm or about 1 1/2 m

Sunflower 11 - 140 cm or about 1 1/2 m

There were several entries in this estimating challenge.  Some people estimated in metres and fractions of metres, and other people estimated in centimetres.  No one got the heights EXACTLY right, but several people were very close.  Fantastic mathematical thinking evident here!
