Nearly everyone has been reading on EPIC,  and as a class we have read 900 books on EPIC this year.  Oliver has read the most books - he has spent a total of 26 hours reading 181 books.  Way togo, Oliver!

People also worked hard on the SeeSaw tasks this week.  Here is a snap shot of some of the work.

In Maths, we have been measuring volume and time.  It was interesting to see the different ways people showed their learning.

It was interesting to see the differe

We also had to measure one minute of time to compete in the finger marathon.   We had a huge number  of athletes at the starting line, bu Sam was our ultimate winner.  He did two marathons, and recorded 111 and 97 clicks, giving him an average of 104 clicks per minute.  What a champ!

Kadence did a very clever thing and used nail clippers because they didn't have the right sort of pegs at her house.  We like your creative thinking, Kadence!
We read books from Sunshine Online and 'Anzac Ted',  especially for Anzac Day.  People wrote some thoughtful stories about their favourite toy, some of them were battered and old like Grandpa's teddy, but just as loved.  It was awesome to hear people using their 'personal voice' when they wrote about something extra special to them.

We also used our imaginations to write a camping adventure, but first we made a word bank by thinking of some nouns and adjectives that fitted with the camping picture.

We also read and sang in Maori this week, as we matched colours to the correct colour names in Te Reo.  It was a real treat listening to all the beautiful singing, some solo, some with brothers and sisters and one of two with Mums and Dads.  (There's your next challenge right there, parents!)

We also wrote similes to describe the colours in the rainbow.  It was cool to see people matching the colours with a suitable noun AND adjective.  Here are some of our rainbow poems:

Nearly everyone also had a go at making magic pictures, which combined Visual Art with Science.  When you gently placed your booklet in the water, the paper towel absorbed the water allowing the second picture to materialise.  There were all sorts of art: trees, sun and clouds, people, cars, even monsters and the Titanic!  There were so many to choose from, but here are a couple:

We have heard our Prime Minister talking about being kind to each other in this difficult time, so it seemed like a good time to think and write about being kind.  We designed emojis that represented kindness and also wrote about ways we could show kindness to other people.  Here are a few of our kindness emojis.  Maybe in the future, you will be able to use one of these emoijis on your phone!
