Our Thoughts as we leave Level 4

Now, on Monday evening, as we leave Level 4, I thought it timely to share some of the students' thoughts about lockdown, which I have gleaned from Google Meetings.

We found that many students have enjoyed doing school work online.   Some people mentioned SeeSaw, others EPIC, some Sunshine on line, while a couple of people thought that Maths Whizz was the best thing to happen in Lockdown.  Sunshine on line was good because you could do activities as well as read the book.  Science was also popular; lots of people liked making paper planes and competing in the finger marathon.  Most people have enjoyed colouring in and doing arts and crafts.
A few people have made incredible things out of Lego, others have made bird boxes and bird feeders ready for the winter months.

People have enjoyed the family time that Level 4 has afforded us, and having time to relax.  For the most part, people have found their brothers and sisters not as annoying as they thought they might be, in fact most have been quite useful helping with fort building and homework.  Some people have been gardening.  There has been a lot of baking, sometimes watching movies and eating home made baking at the same time!  There have been many, many videos made; some even on You Tube!  No school uniforms was a plus, and some people thought that the best thing was wearing slippers for as long as you wanted every day.

Outside, people have enjoyed family walks and bike rides.  Our bear count is in the hundreds and still counting as photos of ANZAC bears roll in.  Easter Bunny delivered eggs and the Tooth Fairy collected teeth - we were all somewhat relieved when they were deemed to be essential workers.

There were some negatives though, but not too many.   Most people missed seeing their family the most, and lots of people missed going out and playing with friends.  Some people even missed important birthdays, and saw candles being blown out on a screen.  Others had birthdays in their home, but then didn't have the people around to celebrate with.  Even so, all these Lockdown birthdays were fun, even if a bit strange.

Overall it has been an incredible experience that we all share and will remember for a v-e-r-y long time!
