On the last week of term, we had Chinese Language Week to celebrate China's National Day. We read the book, 'Mulan' from the CBS Library which was written in English on one page and Cantonese on the other. It was interesting to discuss how the story compared with the new 'Mulan' Disney movie.
We learned some simple greetings and we were very lucky to have Chen, Constance, Eillie, Liam, Linsey, Mia, Oliver, Otis, Wallace and Wilson to help us with the correct pronunciation. We also learned the numbers up to 20 and had a go at writing the numbers as Chinese characters.
It was also fun to try and read our class blog in Chinese, using the TRANSLATE app.
We followed the instructions in the book, 'The Lantern Parade' to make Chinese lanterns to decorate the classroom.
