Potato People

We read the book, 'Potato People', and then we set about making our own potato boys and girls.

First,  we added arms and some legs, facial features and hair.  Then we designed the clothing: skirts, pants, belts, shirts and capes.  We carefully measured our potato's waist, drew and cut out paper patterns to fit, just like a real fashion designer.  Then we chose our fabric and pinned the paper pattern to the material to cut it out.  There was only one pair of dressmaking scissors so Mrs Bear did the cutting out to our design.  Next we used pins to attach clothes.

Our potato people look sensational!  Here is a sample, and you can see them all in the ART GALLERY page.

In Term 4, when the potatoes have sprouted, we will plant them in the garden so that they will (hopefully) be ready to harvest so we can make some potato salad for our Christmas shared lunch at the end of term.
