Year 3 Poetry Competition

Everyone in Year 3 took part in the Weka Team Poetry Competition.   In Covid lockdown 2, each Year 3 class had its own competition in its room. There were six poems to choose from, and everyone worked hard to learn their poem so they could recite it without reading from a book.   In Room 18, people wore a blindfold and picked out a named popstick to work out the order.  Here is Liam having his turn.

Mrs Bear marked each person's performance based on the success grid that was sent home with the poems.  After lunch, the winners were announced, although in fact everyone deserved a special mention because this is the first year Cockle Bay has had a poetry competition and everyone stepped up to the mark.

First place: Charlotte

Second place (tied): Abbey and Emma

Third place: LJ

The place winners then gave their speeches again to the Room 18 audience, so it could be videoed for our blog.
