Our classroom garden has huge amounts of min and it was time to prune the mint so we could make mint tea. First, we made a sugar syrup to sweeten the tea by dissolving white sugar in hot water. We used the 1:1 ratio to work out how much sugar we needed to make 3 cups.
Finally, it was time to give the mint tea the taste test! Most people really liked it.
Then we pruned our mint patch.
After that, we brought branches of mint inside, and plucked off the young fresh leaves. Our hands and even the carpet smelt minty!
Next we filled our teapot with fresh leaves and added the sugar syrup. Then we filled the teapot with boiling water. The steam, again, was fresh and minty.
Finally, it was time to give the mint tea the taste test! Most people really liked it.
